In Greek mythology, Iphigenia (Greek Ίφιγένεια Iphigeneia, 'hardy woman') was a daughter of King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra. It is sometimes considered a daughter of Theseus and Helen raised by Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. Artemis punished Agamemnon after he killed a sacred deer in a sacred grove and boasted he was a better hunter. On his way to Troy to participate in the Trojan War, Agamemnon's ships were suddenly motionless as Artemis stopped the wind in Aulis. A soothsayer named Calchas revealed an oracle according to which the only way to appease Artemis was to sacrifice Iphigenia, daughter of Agamemnon. By some accounts, he did so, but most studies suggest that Artemis replaced her at the last moment by a deer or a doe and then transported to Tauricia, on Crimea, where the became in his priestess and had the mission of killing foreigners as offerings to the goddess. Iphigenia is known by the Greek mythological sources from the VII-VI centuries a. C. and so closely identified with Artemis, which some researchers believe it was originally a rival hunting goddess whose cult was subsumed by Artemis.
* THE MODEL.
This is my little tribute to this beautiful woman whom I admire and respect deeply. Will be because of her slim figure? Will be because of her great personality? Will be because of her beautiful eyes? Or maybe will it be for her enigmatic name? IPHIGENIA, to pronounce his name evokes all the magic and mysticism of the Greek Goods. In any case, this woman has something that makes it special, enigmatic and very attractive, a goddess among mortals, who could not escape my pencil. With this drawing I hope I have done justice to her beauty and charisma. And if not............that the Gods forgive me!! A curious fact, I must say that the buckle of his belt was a draconian work, I spend 6 hours and its execution.
Real Size: A4
